Sound Cards
 

This is a set of letters (a-z) and digraphs (such as oa and ch) which can be cut into sound cards.

 

Sound cards are a useful tool during phonemic awareness exercises because they let learners physically manipulate sounds.  

Wordbook

Wordbooks are useful for learners to write examples of words as sounds and spelling patterns are introduced.

This is a set of A4 flash cards with letters (a-z) and digraphs (such as ng and ai).

Adult literacy classes often have learners with competing demands on their time, such as work and family commitments. It is worth instructors tracking the introduction of sounds and digraphs to ensure that all materials are covered, even if the sequencing is different.

Minimal pairs can be a useful tool for people learning English as an additional language or dialect, as well as in phonemic awareness exercises.
